Wolverine #310 the Return of Sabretooth

Wolverine #310 by Jeph Loeb, Simone Bianchi and Simone Peruzzi was released last week and is the epic first chapter in the Sabretooth Reborn story. While Loeb is one of the best writers in comics today th art of Bianchi makes this book explode.

The story starts with Wolverine dealing with Cloak, another hero who has come to him for help because Sabretooth has kidnapped Cloaks partner Dagger. Wolverine insists its impossible for Sabretooth to be alive since he killed him himself, they travel to where he buried 'tooth's body to find it right where he left, severed head and all.

The villain Romulus is the driving force behind all this, see his background here, he's the man who has Dagger and who's resurrected Sabretooth. The two do battle in a beautiful ballet of violence and claws depicted with such amazing art by Bianchi who makes these super powered people seem real and leap off the page. Their battle is cut short when a mysterious red head steps in and stabs Romulus through the chest. She tells Wolverine this wont stall him long and he needs to get to get to the Weapon X facility in Canada. She kisses him deeply and disappears into the night.

Wolverine of course heads back to Alkali Lake and the Weapon X facility where he was given his admantium skeleton only to find vat upon vat of Sabretooth clones. Sabretooth bursts onto the scene to scream out "I'm Back Runt! Just in time to see you DIE!". For readers of Uncanny X-Force we know Sabretooth has been back for a bit and has been running the underworld crime scene. He no longer is the crazed killer for hire, he now apparently is trying to upgrade himself in the world, being more of a leader, but still a killer and truly powerful villain.

This was a comic that I like to call 'a fast read' not because of a lack of words or dialogue, in fact its chock full of story, its just so captivating, so well written that it zips right by. On top of that in case you didn't catch the other times I said it the art is beautiful. To me its they way Bianchi does the characters eyes. They're are truly realistic eyes and bring such a reality to this crazed fantasy story that makes you go back and read this story three more times just to enjoy it over and over again.

Head out and pick up a copy of Wolverine #310 if you feel like getting back into comics and enjoying the best there is at what he does.

BOOM!
